About the format
Videos are re-encoded to H.264 MP4, which plays everywhere. “Recommended” usually cuts phone videos by 50–80% with little visible change; lowering the resolution to 720p or 480p shrinks them even more.

Why is the first conversion slower?
The video engine (about 30 MB) is downloaded once and then cached by your browser. Processing speed depends on your device, because everything happens locally.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but browsers have memory limits. Files up to a few hundred MB work well on most computers.
Is it free?
